Job Description

Blue Dot Consulting is hiring a Senior Campaign Strategist to support an active multi-state grassroots advocacy portfolio for a top-ten U.S. clean energy developer with projects across 17 states.

This is a 1099 contract engagement at $250/hour with a 35-hour/month base ($8,750/month) and pre-approved surge hours. Travel is 50%+ across the portfolio. Personal vehicle with IRS mileage reimbursement plus per diem. Home base in Kentucky, Tennessee, or Georgia is strongly preferred.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS

You are the permanent #2 on the campaign delivery team. After a four- to five-hearing ramp-up, you become BDC’s primary field-facing presence at planning commission and county hearings: the person staffing speaker huddles in the parking lot, briefing the pastor, the farm bureau rep, and the commissioner’s chief of staff. You will run speaker trainings. You will deliver after-action reports within 48 hours.

WE WORK QUIETLY

Our campaigns operate in conservative, rural Southern communities. We win by anchoring the narrative in property rights and local economic development - not by nationalizing fights. The work is delicate. The communities we serve respond to neighbors, not megaphones.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Someone who connects instantly and authentically with people across every background - landowners, faith leaders, farmers, electeds, retirees.

• Advocacy or political campaign experience preferred (field director, organizing director, regional organizer, ballot measure manager). We will consider strong applicants from faith-based organizing, farm organizing, or extension/community development backgrounds.

• Direct experience running speaker trainings, public testimony coaching, or citizen lobby days.

• Familiarity with land use, zoning, or utility siting processes a plus.

• Existing relationships with rural Southern community leaders, farm organizations, or local elected officials.

YOU WILL SUCCEED HERE IF

You love to win. You understand that winning here looks like a 4–1 commission vote after a quiet six-month effort - not a viral moment. You take direct feedback. You give it the same way. You treat everyone with respect and discretion.

COMPENSATION

1099 contractor at $250/hour. 35 hours/month base. Surge hours available and pre-approved. Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate. Per diem for overnight travel. Lodging billed at actuals.

TO APPLY

Send a single PDF to taylor@bluedotconsulting.us with subject line “Senior Campaign Strategist - [Your Name]” containing: résumé, one-page cover letter (tell us about a time you changed someone’s mind in a setting where it mattered), three references, and one writing sample (campaign memo, hearing testimony, briefing document, or action plan you authored - redact anything confidential).

Finalist candidates complete a paid half-day scenario exercise and pre-engagement drug screening.
