About this position
This is a locally engaged position at an overseas Australian Diplomatic Mission.
The position is with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and is located in the Congressional Liaison Branch of the Australian Embassy in Washington DC. It forms part of a small team responsible for the strategic management of the Australian Government’s engagement with US Congress and for monitoring, analysing and providing advice on US legislative and political developments of interest to Australia.
The role works under limited direction to the Congressional Liaison Minister-Counsellor, is responsible for a number of politically sensitive tasks and carries particular responsibility for liaison on foreign policy issues.

Additional Information
This position is a designated security assessed position. Applicants must be citizens of Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand or United States to be eligible for engagement. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having a valid DFAT recognised security clearance. Employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate clearance is confirmed. The inability to have a clearance recognised prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.
