Job Description
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is currently recruiting for a Senior Manager, Industry Engagement, in our DC office, responsible for identifying and executing partnership and collaboration opportunities with public and private sector leaders in the civil engineering industry. This position will primarily manage ASCE’s Industry Leaders Council and will play a key role, in cooperation with volunteer leaders, in shaping future priorities and opportunities for this critical ASCE group. The Industry Leaders Council is an invitation-only group of C-Suite executives from the public and private sectors, who represent a wide range of infrastructure disciplines and have invaluable connections to the civil engineering profession.
Responsibilities:
- Strengthening relationships with industry leaders and identifying new partners and ways to engage with ASCE on policy and thought leadership
- Identifying, building, and managing long-term relationships with strategic members in the civil engineering industry
- Building strategic relationships with partners to produce opportunities and drive revenue growth
- Offering strategic input and support related to business development
- Refining the message and value proposition for industry to engage with ASCE
- Representing ASCE effectively and professionally with CEOs and with heads of government agencies
- Contributing to ASCE thought leadership and market awareness
- Developing and executing tailored networking events for industry leaders
- Advising on policy programming and other association special events
- Analyzing budgets and preparing and processing invoices
Industry Leaders Council Liaison and Support
- Managing regular Council activities and supporting the Council Chair
- Developing and managing Council agendas, draft meeting minutes
- Working with ILC leadership to recruit and promote ILC membership and related Council administration, and refining/guiding Council initiatives
- Overseeing implementation of specific ILC-driven projects and priorities
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree with training in public policy, marketing, or non-profit management
- 5 years’ experience working on infrastructure issues in the private or government sector
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills
- An In depth understanding of relevant markets and issues
