Social Media Manager

Job description:

The Social Media Manager will lead the campaign’s day-to-day social media presence,

create and manage digital content, and help shape Mayor Mahan’s online voice across

platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • The Social Media Manager has the following responsibilities and duties:
  • Plan, create, and publish content across the campaign’s social media channels,
  • including rapid-response, and evergreen posts.
  • Capture, coordinate, and quickly turn around photo/video content at campaign
  • events, press moments, and field stops.
  • Draft and edit platform-specific copy, graphics briefs, captions, scripts, and
  • posting calendars.
  • Travel with Mayor Mahan as needed to support real-time content creation and
  • coverage, including direct-to-camera, across California.
  • Collaborate with communications, policy, political, field, and fundraising teams to
  • execute the overarching campaign plan.
  • Requirements:
  • The Social Media Manager should have the following skills, attributes, and experience:
  • At least one cycle in a digital, social media, or communications role on a federal,
  • statewide, or major local campaign.
  • Knowledge of California and national politics, with strong instincts for message
  • discipline and rapid response.
  • Exceptional writing, video/photo editing, visual judgment, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with major social platforms and familiarity with basic design/video
  • editing tools; willingness to create content quickly and often.
  • Willingness to commit fully to the demands of a high-intensity statewide race,
  • working nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Candidates with proficiency in Spanish and experience growing political or
  • advocacy social accounts are preferred.

Compensation:

$8,000-$11,000/month.

This is an at will position, and does not extend past the

end of the campaign. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and

weekends frequently.
