The Office of U.S. Senator Alex Padilla seeks a Speechwriter to join a fast-paced, collaborative communications team in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate is a sharp writer who can craft clear, compelling arguments across a wide range of issues. This position requires the ability to translate complex policies into accessible language while adapting quickly to shifting priorities. Qualified candidates will have strong analytical, research, and editing skills with an eye for both message and detail.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Drafting floor speeches and prepared remarks for hearings, events, and public appearances.
  • Writing op-eds, press statements, and video scripts.
  • Shaping messaging that is concise, persuasive, and rooted in sound policy and research.
  • Working closely with legislative and state teams to gather input and manage approval processes.
