Job Description


The Office of Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) seeks an experienced, highly organized, and detail-oriented Staff Assistant for her Cleveland, Ohio office. 

Job Duties:

  • Provides a welcoming environment and positive first impression of the office to constituents, visitors, and others
  • Compile and manage the Member’s materials for District and/or Ohio activities working collaboratively with the Scheduler, Administrative Director, and other team members to ensure documents are completed efficiently and free of error in a timely fashion
  • Handles incoming calls with poise, professionalism, and promptness
  • Captures input from constituents on policy matters for consideration and response
  • Supervise and provide expectations and feedback for office interns
  • Works closely with the Congresswoman’s Administrative Director to ensure appointments are on time as needed
  • Ensures constituent casework messages are forwarded to the appropriate district staff in an efficient and effective manner 
  • Complete resolutions and coordinate delivery based on individual needs
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail
  • Projects a positive image of the Congressional office to employees and all stakeholders
  • Supervise interns in the district office and ensure a meaningful educational experience for them
  • Ensure smooth operations in the district offices as determined by the Deputy Chief of Staff and Administrative Director
  • Engage in conduct and activities that reinforce the positive impact of the Congressional office on the community and among its stakeholders 
  • Send all invitations, meeting request, etc., to the Scheduler
  • Perform other duties as may be needed or assigned
