Congresswoman Terri Sewell (AL-07) seeks a Staff Assistant/Press Assistant to serve in her Washington, D.C. office. 

Ideal applicants will be problem solvers who are well organized, attentive to detail, patient, and comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. They will have excellent written and oral communication skills and will be a team player with a positive attitude. Applicants should be proficient in digital graphic design and video editing. A friendly and helpful demeanor is required as this staffer interacts regularly with constituents and stakeholders. 

Staff Assistant responsibilities include driving the member, managing the internship program, coordinating constituents’ tour and flag requests, assisting with the correspondence program, and handling additional administrative duties as needed. Press Assistant responsibilities include creating graphics and video content, compiling news clips, managing the website, and drafting newsletters, media advisories, press releases, social media posts, and talking points. 

This is a full-time position that requires availability outside of traditional business hours. Alabama ties are encouraged but not required. Possession of a driver’s license, a clean driving record, and access to a vehicle are required in order to drive the Member in DC. Salary is commensurate with experience, and student loan repayment is available.
