Senator-Elect Lisa Blunt Rochester seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as her State Director based in Wilmington, DE. The State Director serves as an integral part of the senior staff leadership team and will utilize their longstanding relationships with stakeholders from various sectors, including nonprofits, businesses, and local and state elected officials, to advance the Senator’s vision and goals. They will represent the Senator in all areas of the state, manage a dynamic office operation with a large staff in multiple offices throughout Delaware, and regularly represent the Senator at events and meetings. Working closely with the Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and Communications Director, the State Director leads strategies, planning processes, and outreach for the Senator and ensures that the Delaware staff and operations closely align with the Senator’s strategic goals and vision. The State Director will build and maintain relationships with constituents and key community leaders and seamlessly facilitate information sharing between the Senator’s Delaware offices and the D.C. office. In addition to managing state office staff, including planning, assigning, and directing work, the State Director will oversee the Senator’s constituent casework activities, regularly liaising with federal departments and agencies. The ideal candidate will have significant managerial experience, well-established relationships with key stakeholders in the business and nonprofit community, excellent political instincts, be an exceptional multitasker, be a superb communicator, function well in a team-oriented environment, and bring a problem-solving, solutions-oriented approach to this role.
