Job Description
Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (MD-03) is seeking a Press Intern for her Washington, D.C. office for the Summer 2026 term (May 18 – August 21). This is an excellent opportunity to join a freshman office where interns play an integral role in day-to-day operations and communications strategy. We’re looking for candidates who are organized, motivated, and eager to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced team.
Press Intern Responsibilities May Include:
- Compiling daily news clips and tracking media coverage
- Drafting and scheduling social media content across platforms
- Assisting with video production and photography
- Writing press releases, newsletters, talking points, and other public-facing materials
- Maintaining and updating press lists
- Supporting the communications team with special projects and administrative tasks as needed
- Interns may also assist with general office duties, including answering phones, greeting visitors, attending hearings and briefings, and conducting Capitol tours.
Qualifications:
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Familiarity with major social media platforms
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Interest in communications, public service, and Maryland politics
- Previous communications experience (preferred but not required)
Additional Information:
- Applicants must be college students or recent graduates (no high school students at this time)
- Full-time availability is preferred
- Interns will receive compensation
