INTERN, COMMUNICATIONS

Reports to: Manager, Public Relations

Internship Programs Dates: 10 week program starting May 25th and ending July 30th.

Location: Chicago

Intern Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day admin of Blackhawks media list including building and researching broader contact list beyond Chicago and traditional hockey reporters (e.g. lifestyle, sports business, etc.)

Assist with writing and support of all PR/Marketing Communications as needed, including drafting news releases, fact sheets, briefing materials, press kits/mailers, etc.

Actively monitor media coverage and develop coverage recaps for Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Blackhawks Foundation initiatives (prior knowledge of Cision Communications Cloud technology is a plus)

Compile research and competitive media analysis reports to identify key trends and stay on top of buzzworthy news in Chicago, across the NHL and around the sports & entertainment industry

Support and help coordinate daily management of intranet for employee-facing news and updates

Qualifications & Requirements:

Recent college graduate or current student (Junior/Senior) pursuing degree in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Media Relations or equivalent preferred

Familiar with the public relations, marketing, or communications discipline through past coursework, internships, or personal experiences

Strong verbal communicator and writer with a passion for and understanding of public relations and traditional and social media landscape

Entrepreneurial mindset
