2021 IDB Remote Summer Internship Program | The Office of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness SPD/SMO
Background of this search:
The Office of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness is looking for an active graduate student (Master or Ph.D.) or recent graduate (graduate-level program) with an academic background in international development, public policy, public administration, or related fields to be hired as a Remote Summer Intern under Products and External Services Consultant (PEC) modality.
The team’s mission: The Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness Office (SPD) reports to the Office of the President and the Executive Vice-President and is charged with providing technical guidance to the Executive team in order to develop a culture of results within the Bank and to help the Bank innovate its core business, the effectiveness, and efficiency of its products and methods over time. As part of SPD, the Strategy Monitoring Division (SPD/SMO) has, inter alia, responsibility for the evidence-based monitoring of, and reporting on, the Bank’s performance and achievement of its strategic objectives.
What you will do: The objective of the consultancy is to provide temporary support to the workstream related to the IDB Group’s Corporate Results Framework (CRF), which is the primary tool for monitoring the IDB Group’s performance and the achievement of its strategic objectives.
The selected candidate will:
Support reporting on the CRF 2020-2023 through the CRF website (www.iadb.org/crf), including providing input on the website functionality, testing functionality, preparing data files for upload to the site, and ensuring accuracy/consistency in data across the site’s four languages.
Develop a manual of CRF reporting processes to document data collection processes, controls to ensure accuracy of data, processes to report through external and internal reporting tools, etc.
Develop a report on the integration of CRF targets into IDB Group business processes and opportunities for improvements in driving toward targets.
Support the development of communications materials associated with the IDB Group’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2021 Development Effectiveness Overview (DEO), which reports on the IDB Group’s contributions towards the development of its 26 borrowing member countries.
Deliverables and Payments timeline:
Deliverable 1: Findings of CRF website testing and data accuracy reviews.
Deliverable 2: CRF reporting manual.
Deliverable 3: Report on opportunities to improve drive toward CRF targets.
Deliverable 4: Communications materials (Powerpoint presentations, 1 short blog post written in collaboration with the team.)
The payment schedule will be as follows: 25% on June 30, 25% on July 15, 25% on July 30, and 25% on August 13, 2021.
What you will need:
Education: Active graduate student (Master or PhD. program) or recent graduate from a graduate-level program (maximum of 1 year after graduation date) in international development, public policy, public administration, or related fields in an accredited university.
Experience: Minimum two years of relevant experience. Knowledge of the fields of international development and results measurement; prior experience working with similar institutions.
Languages: Be proficient in English and Spanish. Working knowledge in Portuguese or French is a plus.
Soft Skills: Self-management, flexibility, dependability, relationship building, results-driven, with strong communication skills.
Technical skills: Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, MS Office Suite
Remote Internship under PEC modality Requirements:
To be part of our Remote Internship you will need to comply with all the following requirements:
Be a national of any IDB member country.
Be minimum 23 years of age as of the starting date of the remote summer internship.
Be an active graduate student (Master or PhD. program) or recent graduate from a graduate-level program (maximum of 1 year after graduation date) in an accredited University.
For active graduate students, submit academic transcripts as an attachment to the application, demonstrating a minimum of 50% of coursework completion and issued within the last 3 months.
For recent graduates, submit a valid certificate with a graduation date no older than June 17, 2020, as an attachment to the application.
Not be former staff member, Complementary Workforce (“CW”), contractors for the Corporation or the Bank or have previously provided services to the Corporation or the Bank through a contractor or under any other contractual modality.
Not have family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
Have access to an Internet connection.
Candidates with more than 3 applications in the 2021 Remote Summer Internship Program for IDB, IDB Lab, and IDB Invest will be automatically disqualified.

The contractual remote intern is fully responsible for any expenses incurred for these purposes, such as but not limited to computer, phone lines, and/or network connections. Also, the intern must be accessible to be contacted and respond within a reasonable time frame (1 day) by means of telephone and/or e-mail for matters related to this contract.
