Description
The Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) of the International Monetary Fund seeks applicants with proven expertise on fiscal issues related to public expenditure to fill a vacancy in the Expenditure Policy Division (EPD) as a headquarters-based consultant in Washington D.C. The appointment term would be for a period of two years, on a renewable basis, subject to satisfactory performance and continued business needs.
FAD's EPD undertakes policy development and research and provides technical assistance to member countries on various public expenditure policy issues and their fiscal and macroeconomic implications. The selected candidate will contribute to the division's analytical and technical assistance work on public investment, the public wage bill, education, health and social protection. Strong specialist skills in one of these areas would be an advantage.
Qualifications
The candidate should have a Master's or Ph.D. or equivalent degree in economics or public policy, with at least 5 years of relevant experience. The successful candidate is also expected to have a solid research or operational background in public spending issues. A proven track record of written publications, papers, reports, or other documents in this area is required. The selected candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English; an ability to work in Spanish and/or French would be desirable but is not essential. A willingness to travel is also required.
