Under the broad direction of the Executive Vice President of Programs, the VP of Programs has strategic and operational responsibility for NVFS’ program areas. Accountabilities include operational leadership, management and development of direct reports, integration of planning and budgeting, and strategic advancement of NVFS’ service areas and key initiatives. Promotes and models leadership practices that support NVFS’ ability to impact the community through program/project implementation and community collaboration. Work in conjunction with members of the Leadership Team to advance NVFS’ strategic priorities and serve as a compelling program advocate to staff and community partners for initiatives and the overall mission of NVFS.   • Ensure that organizational policies and priorities are effectively communicated, implemented and monitored through coordination among programs and NVFS sites.
  • In conjunction with the President/CEO and Executive Team, direct the program work of NVFS, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities including; trauma informed practice, service integration for deeper impact and diverse, inclusive and equitable service delivery and community leadership. Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence and documented successes.
  • Provide management direction and leadership to NVFS’ Program Guide and oversee development of program strategies and projects to ensure strategic alignment, programmatic relevance and impact.
  • Promote strategic planning and management of programmatic financial resources and effective budget alignment/management.
  • Enhance organizational excellence by establishing operational benchmarks, timelines, and resources needed to achieve strategic goals, proactively recommending and driving improvements as necessary; set standards for accountability and measurements of success.
  • Oversee the development of partnership agreements with strategic organizations.

Qualification and Additional Requirements: An individual may obtain qualifications through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform essential job duties.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive experience in a leadership role, including directly supervising management-level staff.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive program management experience specializing in human services, nonprofit, or other related areas.
  • Ability to supervise, coordinate and execute on-going projects and effectively collaborate with other community partners and other members of the NVFS team.
  • Experience with budget processes and setting budget priorities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate and work effectively and appropriately with community partners and staff from various cultures.
  • Must be able to effectively set priorities and manage a demanding and complex workload.
  • Proven experience in leading multicultural teams of professionals and an ability to foster strong working relationships.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required; additional language skills always welcome.
  • Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and live the organizational values of Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability.
  • May be called upon to work beyond normal working hours.
  • Successful completion of background checks required upon hire.
