About the Role
United Way of New York City (UWNYC) seeks a senior fundraising leader to oversee and execute comprehensive development efforts across individuals, corporations, and foundations. In partnership with the Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer, the Vice President, Resource Development (VPRD) will manage the planning, development, and implementation of all aspects of UWNYC’s fundraising operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, executing tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
- Drive awareness of UWNYC’s mission, funding priorities, and impact among assigned donors and prospects
- Conduct prospect research and maintain an active, strategic donor pipeline
- Monitor revenue goals, moves management activity, and portfolio projections
- Support CEO and senior leadership donor portfolios through briefings, strategy, and follow-up coordination
- Collaborate with Resource Development and cross-functional teams to align donor strategies with organizational priorities
- Draft donor proposals, presentations, talking points, and stewardship materials
- Ensure timely documentation of donor activity and maintain accurate CRM records
- Track donor engagement and portfolio performance to support reporting and decision-making
Qualifications
- Demonstrated passion for UWNYC’s mission and strong commitment to racial equity
- 15+ years of progressively responsible nonprofit development and fundraising experience
- Deep understanding of fundraising strategies, donor research, cultivation, moves management, and solicitation
- Proven track record securing 6- and 7-figure gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations
- Experience building, motivating, and managing high-performing fundraising teams
- Strong relationship-building skills with board members, major donors, corporate executives, and community leaders
- Quantitative and financial analysis skills, including budget oversight and KPI management
- Event management experience, including planning, logistics, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement
- Experience with cloud-based CRM systems (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge preferred)
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills
- Bachelor’s degree required
