Position Summary
In 2026, the DNC is launching a first-of-its-kind national partisan voter registration program to close registration gaps among key constituencies and expand the electorate ahead of upcoming elections. The DNC’s flagship VR initiative is a national youth fellowship program, When We Count, to train the next generation of organizers to register voters on-the-ground in their communities. Additionally, the DNC will support state parties and coordinated campaigns across the country to assess registration opportunities and design voter registration strategies tailored to their states. The DNC’s Voter Registration Program Director will design, implement, and scale this critical program nationally in 2026. This position will report to the DNC’s National Organizing Director at the DNC’s HQ.
Responsibilities
Salary: The starting salary for the Voter Registration Program Director position is $95,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends. This is a cycle-based position with an end date of November 15, 2026.

- Design and implement a data-driven, persuasion-forward national voter registration program using a menu of traditional and new tactics.
- Oversee the national hiring process for the When We Count fellowship, creating pipelines of local talent for the Party in 2026 and beyond.
- Hire, train, and coach a team of VR Program staff, both in National DNC HQ and in target states.
- Hold staff and the entire program accountable to ambitious voter registration goals.
- Establish clear metrics, systems, and accountability structures for state programs and staff.
- Conduct frequent rigorous analysis of the program to track progress and maximize impact.
- In collaboration with the Mobilization team, launch a creative digital social media strategy for When We Count and national DNC voter registration initiatives.
- Pilot new technology to run more efficient and effective voter registration programs in collaboration with the DNC Technology Team.
- Develop actionable resources and surface best practices for When We Count and campaigns across the country to run best-in-class voter registration programs.
- Provide strategic voter registration programmatic guidance to Coordinated Campaigns, State Parties, and priority races to optimize VR efforts across the country.
- Proactively coordinate and laterally manage across departments, including Data & Analytics, Mobilization, Finance, Coalitions, and Training, to ensure alignment.
- Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.
- At least 3-4 cycles of campaign experience, including at least 2 cycles of managing full-time staff on large-scale campaigns and/or political organizations.
- Proven ability to design, scale, and execute high-performing, data-driven large-scale organizing programs.
- Deep familiarity with voter registration tactics and programs.
- Strong data literacy: ability to quickly analyze reports and metrics and provide actionable recommendations for program and staff improvement.
- A fierce commitment to winning elections and innovating in organizing.
