The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is the trade association for over 300 member companies that manufacture quality, safe, efficient, and innovative residential, commercial, and industrial air conditioning, space heating, water heating, indoor air quality, and commercial refrigeration equipment and components for sale in North America and around the world. AHRI is the leading voice of advocacy for the HVACR and water heating industry.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Regulatory Affairs Manager will join a team of regulatory and government affairs professionals and play a key role assisting in the formation and implementation of energy and environmental policies. The Regulatory Affairs Manager will work with the AHRI Policy Team to manage the Association’s policy agenda and regulatory priorities in the areas of energy efficiency, environment, climate, chemicals, and decarbonization policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare draft agendas, take minutes, and maintain records of activities.
- Anticipate internal and/or external policy and regulatory issues and recommend strategies on the impacts to AHRI members.
- Engage with AHRI members to develop consensus on priority needs and policy positions. Solicit member input and lead the development of comments on regulatory rulemakings that affect the industry.
- Contribute to the development of AHRI policy positions to enable AHRI to act proactively on key issues to best meet members’ short-term and long-term needs.
- Using all resources and advocacy paths available, manage and participate in all regulatory and other policy advocacy relating to area of responsibility.
- Manage outside consultants, as assigned.
- Build, manage, and actively participate in various internal and external committees, working groups, task forces, and coalitions with members and stakeholders, as assigned, to represent AHRI’s members’ interests.
- Draft comments, testimony, white papers and/or talking points to be used at hearings, agency meetings, and other external communications by AHRI and its members.
- Provide rapid response on AHRI priorities through the development of comments, letters, and talking points on issues concerning AHRI members.

- Ability to define issues, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and apply to work environment.
- Outstanding communication skills, evidenced by experience in communicating advocacy positions, including writing comments and/or testimony.
- Ability to effectively work with and through member committees to accomplish AHRI goals.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under tight time constraints.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field of government affairs/policy, STEM, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Minimum three years of energy and environment or related experience; trade association experience a plus.
Computer Skills: MS Office Suite, and online research and tracking services.
AHRI offers a competitive salary and a full benefits package including employer contributions to 401(k) and Roth(k) plans in a friendly work environment. The hiring salary range for this position is $80,000 - $92,500.00 based on relevant industry experience.
