The Center For Foreign Affairs & Defense Policy (CFADP) is a startup non-profit, independent, bipartisan public policy organization. Based in Houston TX the Center is dedicated to developing a strong fact-based approach to the critical Foreign and Defense Policy issues facing the United States and the world.
CFADP'S Mission
The Center For Foreign Affairs & Defense Policy (CFADP) is an independent bipartisan nonprofit think tank that is dedicated to developing a strong fact-based approach to the critical Foreign and Defense Policy issues facing the United States and the world. CFADP engages with government officials, experts, and the public to deliver publications, ideas, and analyses to further elevate the debate on Foreign and Defense Policy issues.
The Board will support the work of The Center For Foreign Affairs & Defense Policy and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. Day-to-Day operations are led by CFADP's chief executive officer (CEO), the Board-CEO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
Leadership, governance, and oversight
- Serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO as he develops and implements CFADP's strategic plan
- Approving CFADP's annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
- Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
- Representing CFADP to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
Board Terms & Participation
The Center For Foreign Affairs & Defense Policy's Board Members will serve an initial two-year term and will be eligible for re-appointment for a full four-year term. Board Meetings will be held quarterly and CFADP's committee meetings will be coordinated with full board meetings. This excludes any special meetings called by the Chair of The Board of Directors.
Qualifications
The Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
- Prior experiences working with a think tank or other research organizations.
- Significant Academic experience in Political Science, International Relations, or Public Policy
- Professional Experience in US Foreign Affairs, Defense Policy, National Security or
Military Affairs.
Service on The Center For For Foreign Affairs & Defense Policy Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to Board Members’ duties.
