Join us and help shape the future of policy and strategic content at Schneider Electric.

An exciting opportunity awaits at the intersection of politics, communications, energy, technology, and sustainability.
As a full-time Policy and Strategic Content Advisor in Washington, DC, you will have the opportunity to support Schneider Electric’s North American (NAM) Government Relations team by contributing to our federal, state and local, and international efforts on critical topics such as the energy transformation, energy resilience, grid modernization, cybersecurity, smart manufacturing, and sustainability. Building on Schneider’s significant U.S. footprint and vision for decarbonization, sustainability, and an all-electric world — you will play a key role in creating and communicating our policy positions and strategic content through a variety of mediums, including policy position papers, corporate presentations, blogs, op-eds, and social media.

As the Policy and Strategic Content Advisor, you will play a crucial role in both internal and external communications and content, including:

  • Drafting key policy position papers and other strategic content materials that support the thought leadership and strategy for key executives, including the NAM Chief Public Policy Officer (CPPO)
  • Writing and editing content for internal presentations and designing assets for the President, North America Operations and CPPO — collaborating closely with various functions and subject matter experts — ensuring accuracy and brand compliance
  • Crafting policy-specific social media content and thought leadership materials (op-eds, blogs, etc.) to advance strategic policy priorities for the company, as directed by CPPO and policy teams.
  • Supporting Schneider Electric NAM Government Relations team with communications and the development of strategic materials to support executive meetings, messaging, and thought leadership
  • Serving as the single point of contact and leading regular coordination cadences with marketing and Public Relations leaders to communicate about key events, plans, strategic communication needs, and external communication opportunities
  • Establishing a calendar of key external events to influence policy in North America, and assigning key leaders to advance policy priorities
  • Soliciting and coordinating input from all subject matter experts (SMEs) within the team to develop policy position papers or presentations topics identified in Schneider Electric’s NAM Government Relations strategy
  • Serving as liaison between the Government Relations team and the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI), including setting and managing timeline expectations for papers, releases, and associated activities.
  • Providing essential feedback to optimize SRI materials to effectively communicate to policy makers
Essential skillsets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong background in presentation development
  • Capable of communicating effectively about policy topics with policymakers and associated stakeholders
  • Expertise to clearly articulate challenging policy and regulatory topics to a variety of stakeholders both within and outside of political environments, including executive leaders, sales teams, coalitions, etc.
  • Having the skills to drive an external and social media communications strategy that advances policy messages and priorities
  • Active networker capable of leveraging external partners, NGOs, and events to reinforce policy messages and create leads for future engagement
  • Technologically savvy with Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and other content-creation tools
  • Team player and natural collaborator
  • Self-starter and confident working autonomously
  • Bachelor’s in Public Policy, Communications, Political Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience with policy writing, policy messaging, communications, graphic design, and presentation development
  • Knowledge of issues pertinent to the energy sector not required, but preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working on Capitol Hill, in a D.C.-based trade association, in an Executive Branch agency, or with a D.C.-based public affairs organization
