The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) seeks a Regional Political Coalitions Director to promote pro-Israel education and activism among Christian and Veteran political leaders. Primary geographic responsibility will be in the Southeastern United States. The Regional Political Coalitions Director will report to the Regional Political Director in Atlanta and the Deputy National Political Coalitions Director in Washington, DC.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Build relationships in Republican congressional districts with key political, religious, and community leaders within the non-Jewish community, primarily focused on the Christian and Veteran leaders.
- Educate political leaders about the US-Israel relationship and encourage their involvement in pro-Israel activism and politics.
- Recruit and train activists willing and able to mobilize on legislative initiatives.
- Lead mobilizations on important legislative campaigns in your target districts.
- Develop, refine, and implement a strategic plan, analyze local political trends, perform the necessary research, and prepare background materials and documents.
- Plan and lead educational seminars for activists and rising stars in Israel.
- Plan and implement meetings, speaking events, conferences, and other events to further your mission.
- Work closely and cooperatively with AIPAC’s staff (regional and national) and lay leaders.
- Assist in educational meetings with candidates for federal office.
- Travel within the United States frequently and occasionally to Israel with local leaders and contacts.
- Perform other activities as assigned by the Regional Political Director or Deputy National Political Coalitions Director.
Qualifications & Skills
- Well-developed political skills, including seven years of political experience in Congress, or in a state legislature/local government, on political campaigns and/or equivalent activities, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks successfully.
- A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience working within politically conservative circles, including Christian and Veteran communities.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- An abiding and demonstrated commitment to advancing the US-Israel relationship.
- Superior organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Team-oriented personality with a can-do attitude.
- Strong communication (oral and written) and research skills.
- Ability to travel regularly.
