Summary

This position is located in the Office of Europe, Western Hemisphere, and Africa under Energy Resources Bureau's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy (ENR/EDP/AWH). The incumbent focuses on Africa or the Western Hemisphere tracking the global energy markets and providing a range of written products and oral briefings.

Responsibilities

Develops and maintains current knowledge of programs and policies, pertaining to energy markets in the assigned region(s) and understanding of bilateral and multilateral treaties, partnerships, and agreements.

Identifies, tracks, and analyzes foreign policy and technological issues related to global energy markets and brings these items to the attention of the supervisor.

Works closely with other USG agencies, foreign governments, private sector groups, and civil society organizations to assess instruments to strengthen energy security that can support Bureau policy objectives.

Serves as principal action officer on the U.S. Energy dialogues, providing information and analysis as needed for programs organized by the Energy Projects office.

Drafts policy papers, briefing materials, written analyses, presentations, and other correspondence on a wide-range of global energy market developments and trends in the assigned region(s) for Bureau and Department principals.
