Aon is looking for a Public Affairs Summer Intern in Chicago!


Your impact as a member of the Public Affairs Team


Public affairs intern would help support, prepares, interprets, reviews and monitors legislation and regulations affecting Aon in coordination with Aon business units. The individual will be primarily focused on activities in North America and secondarily on assigned state regulatory activities as they relate to the insurance industry. The individual will work directly with Public Affairs lead across Aon as well as participate in various capacities with trade associations, advocacy groups as well as industry events.


This role will report to the Director of Public Affairs- North America


Responsibilities


  • Assist with the development and compilation of materials (leave behinds, fact sheets, etc.) for meetings and advocacy work across North America
  • Monitor and track activities in assigned state legislation and for policies relevant to Aon.
  • Review and provide analysis on state legislation and regulatory activities and actions that impact to Aon and the insurance industry.
  • Draft regular legislative activity reports across North America
  • Administer, manage, assist, and participate in events/meetings as assigned by the Senior Manager of Public Affairs (Tasks include meeting planning, registration, logistics, speaker recruitment, content development and presenting):

  • Strong research, policy analysis, writing and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively distill and present complex information in a concise way.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including maturity, an ability to work independently and in a team setting with remote-access colleagues.
  • Efficient, organized work style and an ability to prioritize quickly and confidently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to understand the long-term impact of policy decisions and strategies.
  • Proficient in MS Office, internet research and database information systems.

Qualifications


Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) - Public Policy, Public Administration, Business Administration Political Science, Pre law, History, Leadership studies preferred - open to all majors!


Applicants for this role are on track to graduate between December 2024 - June 2026 (Sophomores/ Juniors) and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.

The target salary range for this position is $20.50 - $25.50 per hour. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.


Aon offers a benefits package for temporary and seasonal employees who will work 20 or more hours per week including: medical, dental, and vision insurance at the employee’s expense, critical illness insurance, 10 Company holidays per calendar year (paid, if eligible), paid sick leave as provided under state and local law, and a 401(k) savings plan with employer contributions. Eligibility for benefits are governed by the applicable plan documents and policies.
