The Fiscal Policy Institute (FPI) is seeking a Communications Director.
FPI is an independent, nonpartisan think tank that advances sound and equitable fiscal policy to strengthen New York’s economy through research, analysis, and strategic communications. FPI is a vital resource for legislators, advocates, and the media on matters of the state budget, tax policy, and public spending programs.
FPI’s communications director will be responsible for managing FPI’s public presence, including editing and publishing written work, maintaining a virtual presence online and in social media, managing relationships with partner organizations, and assisting the Executive Director in certain development-related matters.
Responsibilities
Specific duties include:
- Managing the editing and publication process for reports, white papers, briefs, blog posts, and other written work.
- Pitching written work to press and pitching FPI staff for radio and tv interviews.
- Drafting and pitching op-eds.
- Managing the website and social media.
- Maintaining relationships with legislative offices, nonprofits, unions, and other partners organizations, including tasks such as sharing FPI’s written work, announcing events, soliciting feedback on policy issues and priorities, among others.
- Planning events and conferences.
- Potentially commissioning policy work from outside experts.
- Assisting the ED with grant proposals and donor outreach.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
