Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) is searching for a highly-motivated Communications Director with exceptional strategic, writing, media, and management skills. Ideal applicant is detail-oriented, a fast, dynamic, and seasoned writer and editor, able to handle numerous policy issues in a fast-paced media environment, and has meaningful personnel management experience and directed robust digital content creation. The Communications Director will be responsible for overseeing all communications, press, and creative functions in the office, including creation of messaging priorities, execution of communications plans, briefing and staffing the Senator, identifying press and speaking engagements, collaborating with policy staff, cultivating positive constituent stories, and editing communications content. He, she, or they will help coordinate interviews with national and local reporters, manage relationships with media outlets, and provide on-the-record comment when needed. The ideal applicant will have at least 5-8 years of demonstrated experience working on a communications team, preferably on Capitol Hill or in a campaign setting.
