The District Office Director oversees and manages all district-based operations of the office to meet the following objectives:
- Execute and maintain effective and efficient operations, on brand, for district offices.
- Provide high-quality constituent service.
- Ensure productive and relational partnerships with district stakeholders and other legislative offices through robust public engagement and strong collaborative partnership.
- Participate in evening and weekend events as needed.
This position reports to the Chief of Staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the district offices, including hiring, training, supervising and mentoring of staff (including interns). This includes enforcing internal and Senate rules and policies.
- Subject matter knowledge of the offerings and work of county and state agencies (such as unemployment, senior issues, state taxes, and government assistance and social services programs).
- Oversight of the Constituent Inbox and I-Constituent.
- Manage intake of constituent issues, community events and meeting attendance requirements ensure an efficient flow and even-handed distribution of assignments while aligning with staff professional interests and strengths when possible.
- Ensure staff team responds to constituent (residents of the district) issues with appropriate state and local governmental services and benefits. When a constituent issue falls outside of state/local government service realm, provide referrals to possible service solutions that might be able to help (we help everyone).
- Establish and maintain relationships with other elected official staff teams (federal, state, county and local) and collaborate on community events and constituent needs as appropriate.
- Work with CoS to respond to and support requests from elected officials, state and county agencies, local nonprofits, and other community partners/stakeholders
- In collaboration with the staff, develop a strategic complement of community events to increase visibility and access to state services. Also includes letter campaigns to recognize special occasions or awards and outreach and visits to local businesses and nonprofits as appropriate.
- Communicate regularly with the Chief of Staff to make policy recommendations, brief them on constituent and district-wide issues, and obtain their input and approval when needed
- Represent the Senator at meetings and events as needed
- Make policy and other recommendations and assist with other duties as assigned
Requirements
- BA in related field
- 3+ years successfully leading teams and supervising people
- 2+ years working directly with customers or comparable experience engaging with a wide variety of people
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Possess a problem solver mentality and be able to work as part of a hierarchy
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends
- Access to reliable transportation for events and other travel needs required
- Deep knowledge and proficiency of Delaware County
Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 depending on experience
