Policy Marketing Manager

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
6 years of work experience
Experience developing and executing communications and marketing plans
Experience working in politics and/or policy
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in public sector or public affairs marketing and / or political / advocacy campaigns
Familiarity with campaign tactics like rapid response, message generation and testing, list-building and social / online mobilization.
Problem solving skills with the ability to develop strategy, communications plans, creative campaigns, media plans, customer and market insights, and analyze campaign effectiveness/ROI
Confidence in managing internal / external relationships – especially skilled in collaborating with cross functional teams to reach consensus, drive alignment, and execute to achieve business goals
Passion for policy and technology
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Whether you're on a consumer product (like Gmail, Search, Maps, Chrome, Android) or a business product (Google Ads, AdSense, Google Marketing Platform, Analytics), you take part in a complete marketing experience as you lead every facet of the product's journey. From determining positioning, naming, competitive analysis, feature prioritization and external communications, you help shape the voice of the product and help it grow a consumer base. This means you work with a cross-functional team across Sales, corporate communications, legal, webmasters, product development, engineering and more. In this role, you'll be involved with product marketing strategy from beginning to end.
As a U.S. Policy Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for sharing Google’s products, economic impact and community contributions with U.S. policymakers, creating an ongoing drumbeat of affirmative activities that showcase the best of Google. You will help to create narratives that explain our position on a range of issues, presenting your ideas with data and insights. You’ll work with a cross functional team to to build a unified strategy that increases strategic engagement with policymakers and key groups in Washington, D.C. and beyond.
In this role, you’ll work with internal and external stakeholders to craft messaging and develop programs that engage key ally groups, consumers and key opinion formers alike. You’re a consummate communicator who is at ease telling stories across a variety of mediums (video, blog posts, social, presentations, etc.) and are excited about working at the intersection of technology and policy. As a clever and out-of-the-box strategist, you have creative ideas on how to talk to an audience in a non-traditional way.

Responsibilities
Define and execute key influencer and consumer marketing programs that speak to Google’s contributions and explain Google’s position on a range of issues.
Develop a flexible communications strategy that allows us to respond quickly and share information via social media, owned channels and more.
Create and manage a robust content calendar that guides our work across the U.S. in partnership with our product, public policy, partnerships and communications teams.
Conduct foundational research and message testing to guide our efforts.
