Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America (SBA) is the largest pro-life political organization in the country with a nationwide network of more than 1 million Americans. We combine politics with policy, investing heavily in voter education to ensure that pro-life Americans know where their lawmakers stand on protecting the unborn, and in issue advocacy, advancing pro-life laws through direct lobbying and grassroots campaigns. 

 

The Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Communications serves as the primary contact for all internal and external communications with the Vice President. This is a fast-paced, high-caliber team that is looking for a dynamic, scrappy member to support the team. 

 

The Executive Assistant must be an extremely well organized and professional individual with strong time-management and communication skills, excellent writing and editing skills, and a passion for the pro-life cause.  

 

This is a full-time position headquartered in our Arlington, VA office. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Communications. 

 

Essential Functions 

  • Provide administrative and project support to the VP of Communications, including briefing of items for the day, oversight of active media schedule, meeting preparation including travel arrangements, expense report management, and deadline oversight. 
  • Keep VP apprised of items of importance throughout the day, with a pulse on pro-life topics in the news. Providing insight into media flash points covered in the news. 
  • Tracks action items to manage and ensure appropriate and timely follow up on internal and external requests for information or decision. 
  • Triage internal and external requests for department, whether inter-departmental, coalition or more. 
  • Assist the team with speaking engagement/event preparations such as, ensuring speakers are prepared with agendas, talking points, etc. 
  • Assist with media exposure tracking and social media interactions. 
  • Assist with Communication team support, as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility 

There are no supervisory duties with this position. 

 

Physical Demands 

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.   

Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing.   

May be required to lift objects up to 20 lbs. 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours  

This position is a full-time position. Hours are typically 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday. Some weekend after hours works will be required during busy times. This position requires the employee to respond to requests and inquires outside of normal office hours via phone and email. 

 

Travel 

This position may require occasional travel for special events/media events. 

 

Required Education/Experience 

  • The ideal individual must be able to adapt to changes and deal easily with managing unexpected events.  
  • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team and independently. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and grammatical skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. 

 

Preferred Education/Experience 

  • Previous experience working on Capitol Hill, with media or in a fast-paced office environment. 
  • Previous communications experience. 
  • Spanish language speakers highly encouraged to apply.
