Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Investigative Operations Division is the internal investigative arm for the largest law enforcement agency in the country. CBP OPR is tasked with conducting criminal investigations involving CBP employees and related entities suspected of crimes affecting the administration of Customs and Immigration laws including but not limited to fraud, perjury, giving false, fictitious or fraudulent information or other violations. IOD Special Agents investigate individuals, businesses, employees, and criminal organizations that represent a significant threat to U.S. national security through the corruption, or attempted corruption, of CBP personnel and programs, to include foreign intelligence organizations and terrorist groups. There are twenty nine OPR IOD offices located throughout the United States covering every CBP Office in the US, and foreign.

As an integral part of the FBI led Border Corruption Task Force (BCTF)/Public Corruption Task Force (PCTF) assigned IOD Special Agents investigate corruption not only within CBP but within various Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement Agencies operating in their area of responsibility.

In addition to investigating corruption and misconduct within CBP, there are several specialized units within IOD. The National Security Group which focuses on counterintelligence threats from CBP personnel, is based in the Washington, DC Field Office and includes several IOD Special Agents assigned to FBI Counterintelligence Task Forces around the country. The Cyber Investigations Unit which is comprised of Special Agents trained in computer forensics who support field office investigations, and lead cyber related investigations. The Technical Operations Unit which is comprised of Special Agents trained in technical surveillance and covert electronic surveillance assigned to field offices throughout the country who support field office investigations. The Use of Force Incident Team comprised of Special Agents who, as part of their duties, review and investigate use of force incidents throughout the country.

Responsibilities

Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Investigative Operations Division is seeking to fill the position of Senior Special Agent, Policy located at CBP Headquarters in Washington, DC. As a SSA Policy, the incumbent will work independently and collaboratively with leadership on a variety of assignments to accomplish the IOD mission. The major duties include:

Managing multiple, high-priority assignments simultaneously and perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Provide representation or support on pertinent working groups and committees.

Collaborate professionally with employees at all levels within CBP, as well as, external stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Work with subject matter experts to collectively build content, and develop and/or update IOD law enforcement policy and procedures.

Research and grasp regulatory and legislative changes impacting the mission, and effectively be able to translate to agency compliance policies/procedures, as necessary.
