The United States Hydrogen Alliance (USHA) is a member-based non-profit business trade association. We are dedicated to building the hydrogen economy by advancing the market for hydrogen within the United States. USHA brings together a unique set of individuals and forward-thinking organizations that consistently take action. We swiftly make moves to bring our society closer to zero emissions and towards achieving energy sovereignty. Our mission is to integrate hydrogen and fuel cells effectively into the United States’ transition to more sustainable energy and transportation systems.


The Opportunity

Do you want to learn how to influence policy? Are you passionate about sharing environmental news? Are you interested in making videos and media to educate the public and policymakers? USHA is looking for enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated Policy & Media Fellows (with the option to focus exclusively on policy or media).


As a Policy Fellow, you will learn about clean energy, transportation, and environmental policymaking in the real world! In this fellowship, you will learn about legislation, regulations, drafting laws, interacting with policymakers, policymaking schedules, advocacy practices, in addition to other facets of creating policy. 


As a Media Fellow, you will maximize branding, outreach, and marketing to enable greater political engagement. Depending on the fellow’s experience and interests, you can take part in video creation, graphic design, collateral creation, social media management, website and SEO optimization, marketing and communication strategy development and execution.


As a Policy and Media Fellow, you can work on all of the above tasks.


Science and engineering majors are also encouraged to apply in order to translate technical topics into policy recommendations and educational materials.


This is a fully remote, unpaid summer fellowship with flexible hours over a three month period from June 3 - August 30, 2024 (flexible start and end date).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Majoring in: communications, marketing, graphic design, political science, international studies, environmental science, engineering, and other related majors.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Strong interest in understanding technology, policy, and media.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in both group and individual assignments.
  • Experience with Google Suite, and Canva or other graphic/video editing software.
