The Community Relations Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of D.C. United’s social responsibility work. This role helps plan, implement, and execute community initiatives for D.C. United including, but not limited to, game days, signature programs, recognition events, the in-kind donation program, and league-wide social responsibility efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Community Relations Coordinator will assist and execute community programs, initiatives, and special events through the local community for social impact efforts which also include game day efforts, player engagements and marketing/brand initiatives
  • Assist with planning and execution of D.C. United community programs and special events including United We Serve, Soccer & Soar, Community Champion, Raise a Toast and other initiatives related to the community pillars
  • Organize, record and track all community, player, and alumni appearances with the PR/Communications team
  • Coordinate and execute player appearances and autograph sessions
  • Coordinate employee volunteer opportunities
  • Provide support for D.C. United’s in-kind donation program (i.e., review of application submissions, distribution of tickets and merchandise, maintenance of database, supervision of inventory and autographed items, and communication with nonprofit organizations).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with surrounding communities and groups, non-profit organizations, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as a game day contact and resource for community partners, VIP guests, ticket and experience programs, and participants for at-game recognition moments.
  • Regularly update and review the community website, write recaps and overviews of community programs, events and appearances with regular updates provided to appropriate story-telling partners.
  • Work closely with the marketing and communications team to support key organizational objectives and community outreach efforts

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-2 years of work experience in event management, partnership management, social impact, non-profit, cause-related marketing, or community outreach-related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field from an accredited college/university
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with various audiences internally and externally
  • Positive professional demeanor with high ethical standards and strong sense of confidentiality
  • Ability to manage a variety of programs and activities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-departmentally
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative, and fast-paced environment
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to think critically under pressure
  • An innovative and creative thinker
  • Detail orientated and resourceful
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Must be able to lift items up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for extended durations of time
  • Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
