The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Communications Specialist in Arlington, VA to work in partnership with the Government Operations Team to provide grassroots advocacy communications materials and legislative affairs communications support.

The applicant should possess a grassroots writing and messaging background with knowledge of communications best practices; the ability to understand complex public policy issues and communicate them in a clear way to key general audiences; and should be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision but who is also a good team player willing to pitch in on multiple projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Creation of materials for use in grassroots advocacy education and persuasion campaigns, including direct response emails, persuasive digital advertising copy, social media posts, op-eds, letters to editors, letters to stakeholders and elected officials and copy for use on web sites.

Development of grassroots advocacy communications strategies based on public policy positions and issue persuasion.

Interest in media relations, including speaking on the record.

Management of content for the Government Operations internal web site.

Collaborate with team members and across organizations to support internal and external leadership engagements.

Write and edit press releases and pitches, stakeholder fact sheets and promotional materials for internal and external audiences. Write, edit and approve copy and artwork for style, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Research, organize and prepare draft speeches and presentations for Government Operations partner organizations. Provide advice and counsel to management regarding large scale executive communications activities, including speeches and presentations. Coordinate and implement communications activities associated with planning and arranging executive communications activities to reach key audiences according to communications strategies.

Some travel may be required for this role

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Employer willing to sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

3+ years of experience working on cross-functional teams to complete significant external communication plans

3+ years of experience with media relations

3+ years of experience creating and implementing communications plans, strategies, and tactics

3+ years of experience promoting stories to news media and interacting with media in support of business activities

3+ years of experience with producing, writing and editing multiple communications deliverables such as news releases, statements, RTQs, feature stories, speeches, videos, social media, etc.

3+ years of experience driving or influencing social media and digital strategies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Bachelor’s degree or higher

Experience leading and/or managing complex projects

Experience working with government, non-profit organizations and/or at community engagements

Experience in comprehensive earned media planning and execution

Experience providing communications counsel and support to senior management

Experience in Politics, Campaigns, Public affairs and/or issue advocacy

Typical Education and Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).
