The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) is the premier global advocate for technology, representing the world’s most innovative companies. As the Executive Vice President, Policy you will oversee ITI’s department that develops and executes strategies globally that advance the policy interests of the tech industry, particularly those that enable innovation and economic growth, while supporting governments’ efforts to achieve industry public policy objectives. You will serve as the principal policy strategist for ITI. You will bring substantive expertise on the most important tech policy issues of the day, have superb management skills, and demonstrated experience working closely with relevant government officials in the United States and internationally. An understanding of the technology industry and a successful track record of involvement in ITI’s key priority areas is required. You will work closely with ITI member companies, ITI colleagues in the U.S. and abroad, and the President and CEO to develop and implement strategies that produce tangible results in advancing ITI members’ policy goals and objectives.

Your responsibilities:

• Leading development of policy agenda priorities and strategy that represent consensus positions of ITI members.

• Providing timely written information to ITI members on policy developments and coordinate with member companies in establishing the industry approach to these developments.

• Ensuring the excellence of work product and consistency of management processes and practices throughout the Policy Department.

• Regularly interacting with ITI’s Board Members and Executive Committee and participating actively in recruiting and retaining ITI member companies.

• Overseeing and leading the work of ITI’s Policy Department.

• Building, leading, and developing an agile public policy team, guiding them to new levels of achievement and collaboration.

• Organizing and coordinating ITI policy subject matter experts on strategic priorities to ensure excellence of delivery in ITI advocacy on policy positions, such that ITI is viewed as the pre-eminent trade association covering technology policy.

• Serving as a mentor for direct reports, ensuring alignment of ITI goals and their professional goals to the extent possible.

• Directing, developing, and evaluating personnel.

• Setting a leadership example in the organization by affirming ITI values.

• Serving as an ITI officer with fiduciary responsibilities to the organization and be invested in the organization’s success.

• Working with other industries, associations, and third-party stakeholders to advance ITI’s policy agenda.

• Serving as a strategic counselor, shaping ITI’s course through insight and advice on key decisions.

• Participating in the development and execution of the ITI Business Plan, including preparing three- and one-year plans and budgets for policy, as well as implementing the appropriate parts of the approved Plan.

• Managing a global Policy Department budget.

• Represent ITI and the technology industry through speaking engagements, appearances before policymakers, and similar public activities.


Your qualifications:

• Advanced degree in public policy, law, business, international relations, or another similar field preferred.

• A minimum of 15 years professional experience forming or influencing the formation of public policy, in both the United States and around the world, and a minimum of five years in a management role.

• Deep knowledge of a wide range of public policy issues affecting the technology sector, including artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, trade, tax, telecommunications, technical standards, and sustainability.

• Substantial professional experience in markets outside the United States, with strong cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate effectively with non-native English speakers.

• A robust professional network in Washington and other capitals, including in Europe, and a high comfort level interacting with and achieving agreement among groups of diverse government, industry, civil society, and other stakeholders.

• Significant experience managing accomplished public policy professionals.
