This position provides brand-specific communications support for the Sonic brand, including but not limited to serving as a strategic communications advisor for the brand leadership team and serving as a communications liaison for the brand with shared services. This position also leads content development for large-scale brand conferences and conventions, as well as town halls and other brand meetings.

Ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced environment, has strong writing skills and ability to capture the brand voice, has had direct experience supporting executive leadership, and can provide strategic communications guidance to cross-functional teams. This position directly supports the Sonic team but also has exposure to Arby’s, Baskin-Robbins, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin’, and Jimmy John’s and is part of a shared services communications team.

This position is based at the Atlanta Global Support Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare content for brand internal stakeholders including leadership, team members, franchisees, and suppliers in support of business objectives and brand culture.
  • Develop overarching content and communication plans.
  • Coordinate logistics and prepare content for brand meetings and events including franchisee advisory council meetings, conferences, and conventions.
  • Lead content creation for internal and franchisee meetings.
  • Amplify Sonic news and initiatives internally in partnership with Enterprise Comms.
  • Externally amplify Sonic news and initiatives related to the business in partnership with Corporate Comms.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year degree required.
  • Preferred 5-10 years of internal communications or public relations experience in a corporate or agency environment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, or ABILITIES

  • Skilled and versatile writer in various formats, including speechwriting, memos, talking points, presentations, communications plans, and newsletters.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent editing, research, and proofreading skills, including familiarity with AP style.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and meet time-critical deadlines.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with employees within all levels of the organization, including members of the Leadership Team, offering guidance on decisions that impact communications strategy.
  • Proficiency using MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Responsive to and anticipates the needs of clients and internal team members.
  • Hospitality or retail experience is a plus.
  • Design experience is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional, respectful and appropriate manner at all times with the highest integrity.
