What you'll do...

Consults with internal organizations on strategic or multi-business initiatives by developing high-level human resources plans to achieve strategic goals; prioritizing and executing workstreams within Walmart U.S. strategies; supporting the integration and prioritization of timelines, tasks, analysis and team assignments; and ensuring strategic initiatives achieve financial goals.

Advises internal organizations and executive leadership on communications tactics and best practices; Creates 360-degree communications plans that align to both internal business needs and the external positioning of the company.

Creates written content to highlight key People projects and initiatives; scope of work includes internal memos, communications to Walmart U.S. stores, executive speechwriting, social media management and digital engagement; blog posts and short feature stories.

Works cross-functionally with key stakeholders across the organization to create internal communications for store associates; aids business partners in determining the ideal audience, timing, positioning and tactics to ensure maximum execution of key initiatives at the store level.

Manages the implementation of communications strategies by developing materials to support the communication of strategy; managing reputational advertising, web-based advocacy, polling, and both internal and external communications; creating executive engagement media plans, including speech writing, to leverage partnerships with key leaders; providing insight and advising on media relations; developing assessments of key opportunities; and supporting the development of long-range plans and project timelines.

Assists senior management to identify and influence stakeholders by providing education on the positive impact of Walmart's entry into a geographic business area; empowering stakeholders to tell Walmart's story through multiple media channels; assisting in the development and execution of media campaigns for key legislative issues; overseeing the response to and processing of media inquiries; conducting media pitches; coordinating messaging approval process for general media inquiries, third-party partners, and internal clients; preparing executives for interviews; distributing press releases and company communications to the media; and identifying opportunities for positive stories.

Serves as a company spokesperson to ensure complex and sensitive statements and key messages are provided to the media by implementing message frameworks; evaluating public opinion research; writing, editing, and approving communications materials; coordinating approval process with internal clients, Corporate Communications management, and Legal; ensuring key external audiences understand Walmart's culture and values; driving consistency in messaging; developing, maintaining, and leveraging relationships with national, local, and online journalists and bloggers for proactive and reactive media stories; and mitigating and elevating potential media opportunities.

Ensures internal and external business clients understand and capitalize on media opportunities and issues by providing advice and counsel on strategies for responding to media-related opportunities; collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent communication and media relations; presenting views and opinions of Corporate Communications; providing media advice and public relations counsel; influencing public relations decisions; serving as primary contact for key external partners and third parties (for example, trade associations, non-governmental organizations, and vendors); and identifying and communicating public relations trends and best practices to clients.

Develops and executes comprehensive media plans for Walmart's corporate and business unit clients to enhance the company's reputation by researching global business and societal trends to identify proactive and reactive public relations opportunities; identifying emerging digital and social media technologies; incorporating best practices into communications plans and execution; monitoring company media coverage; and drafting and finalizing recommendations for proactive media outreach and crisis communication.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.

Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
