Job Description
Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock seeks Legislative Assistant to manage a portfolio that would include defense, foreign affairs, and veterans affairs. Individuals should have experience with and knowledge of current legislative and policy issues, including national security, intelligence, and homeland security. Experience with the National Defense Authorization Act is strongly preferred. Responsibilities include preparing briefing memos; staffing the Senator at hearings, meetings, and other events; drafting and developing legislation and amendments; advising the Senator on all matters under the issue portfolio; drafting vote recommendations and talking points for floor proceedings; reviewing legislative correspondence; and representing the Senator with constituents, Federal agencies, and other outside meetings. Qualified candidates should be strong writers and independent self-starters with strong research and analytical skills, and the ability to produce high-quality work under pressure in an fast-paced, highly collaborative, and team-oriented environment. Capitol Hill experience and Georgia ties are valued, but not required.
