Position Summary:
The Incumbent Protection Manager is responsible for working with Democratic Incumbent Members of Congress and candidates in key races to support DCCC’s mission to take back the house.
This role will work with chiefs of staff, partner and ally groups, and campaign teams to ensure Incumbent Members of Congress and candidates are prepared to win their respective races.
The ideal candidate will be self-starting, strategic, have strong political and campaign finance acumen, and be passionate about Democratic campaigns. This is not a traditional 9-5 role. Evening and weekend work will be expected from time to time.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.
Responsibilities Include:
- Work with Incumbent Protection Director to determine and support fundraising priorities and set quarterly fundraising and cash-on-hand goals for key campaigns, and help build and expand finance programs for Members of Congress and candidates;
- Work directly with Members of Congress, candidates, chiefs of staff, partner and allied groups, campaign managers, finance directors and consulting teams to build strong finance operations that meet campaign objectives and secure support as needed for campaigns;
- Strategize with campaigns on cultivating relationships with PACs, Members of Congress, national donors, labor groups, and other special interest groups;
- Collect and report weekly campaign fundraising numbers, cash-on-hand and other financial metrics;
- Help build and expand finance programs for Members of Congress and candidates;
- Track relevant updates for key campaigns;
- Support political priorities of Incumbent Protection program and support Incumbent Protection Director and Stakeholder Department as needed
- Commitment to the election of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
- Prior experience working with Members of Congress and campaigns preferred.
- At least 2 cycles of political fundraising experience at the State Legislative level or higher
- High level of proficiency in NGP / VAN and proficiency with G-Suite preferred
- At least 1 cycle of experience working with campaign stakeholder groups
- Ability to build relationships and trust quickly
- Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways
