Vice President, Communications 

Firehouse is seeking a full-time vice president of communications to join our rapidly growing firm. 

In collaboration with Firehouse’s client servicing teams, the vice president of communications will build and maintain our firm’s relationships with members of the press and pitch and secure media coverage for clients’. The successful candidate for this position will have 5-7 years of professional experience working in communications-focused roles and will have strong media contacts.  

This position will be based out of Firehouse’s Washington, D.C. office where the firm’s team members work in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and remote Monday and Friday. 

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing your existing relationships at relevant Washington D.C. based and national print publications and broadcast organizations, successfully conduct media pitches to secure press coverage for clients’ messaging and advocacy campaigns  
  • Continuously build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and broadcast segment producers at relevant Washington, D.C. based and national media outlets 
  • Collaborate with Firehouse’s client servicing teams to consult on and execute media strategies and deliverables for clients 
  • Support the strategic development and drafting of business development proposals/pitch materials
  • Participate in business development pitches
  • Compile monthly media coverage/account activity reports

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of professional experience working in communications-focused roles for political campaigns, members of Congress, presidential administrations, or political party committees 
  • Strong media contacts at relevant Washington, D.C. based and national media outlets 
  • Ability to leverage existing relationships with members of the press to successfully pitch and secure media coverage for clients 
  • Strong networking capabilities 
  • Superb organizational skills and thorough attention to detail 
  • Strong writing skills 
  • Ability to draft media pitches and internal communication documents, such as memorandums 
  • Proven ability to complete assigned tasks on time and manage competing and challenging deadlines 
  • Capacity to adapt and respond with speed to changing scenarios 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite platforms, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook
