Job Description
The Majority Staff of the Senate Commerce Committee seeks a senior Communications Director. At least six years of relevant experience is required. The successful candidate will have experience responding to the press during high-stakes negotiations, organizing bill or policy rollouts, and managing multiple press inquiries at the same time. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with the proven ability to develop and execute a detailed plan for communicating the Committee’s activities to a diverse set of audiences. He or she should have the capacity to plan ahead and manage a team; expertise with digital media platforms; and be a team player eager to proactively collaborate with other members of the Committee staff. Candidates must have exceptional writing skills; be able to quickly produce accurate, high-quality materials; and have strong working relationships with reporters, editors, columnists, and other members of the media. Substantive knowledge of policies within the Committee’s jurisdiction is a plus. This is not an entry or mid-level position.
