THE OPPORTUNITY 

Located in the heart of San Francisco, the Asian Art Museum is home to one of the world’s finest collections of Asian art, boasting more than 18,000 inspiring artworks ranging from ancient jades and ceramics to contemporary video installations. Dynamic special exhibitions, cultural celebrations, and public programs for all ages provide rich art experiences that unlock the past and spark questions about the future. 

Currently, we are seeking a Major Gifts Officer (MGO) to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Individual and Legacy Giving, the MGO manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors for the Nexus Membership Program (five-figure annual gifts). The MGO manages the volunteer committee for Nexus, working closely with leaders of t his group to enhance donor engagement and grow the Nexus program. The MGO works to develop and deepen the relationships between individual donors and the museum for the long-term benefit of the museum. The MGO must be resourceful and work well with a diverse group of donors being responsive to their needs and concerns and proactive in providing customer service, cultivation, and stewardship. The MGO is expected to solicit donors directly, and to manage and assist volunteers in solicitation. The MGO may represent the department on internal committees, as well as represent the museum to outside groups.
