Staff Accountant
Job Details:
Salary: $70,000-$85,000
Job Type: Full Time (Monday to Friday 35 hrs/week)
Location: Hybrid remote
Job Description
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, organization policies and external audits. This person will manage the daily transactions of all accounts payable, accounts receivables and reconciliations in support of the financial statements.
The Staff Accountant will report to and work closely with the Director of Finance and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Ensuring all expenses and revenues are properly verified, recorded, processed and filed
- Reviewing journal entries and account balance reconciliations
- Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies
- Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
- Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses
- Assisting with compilation of information for preparation of audits and tax returns
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting or a recognized Accounting Certificate
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting preferably in non-profit
- Working knowledge of GAAP
