Communications Director

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR - Energy & Commerce Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee Chair Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a member of House Democratic Leadership, is seeking an individual with dynamic communications and leadership experience to join her team as Communications Director. Primary responsibilities of the position include writing press releases, statements, op-eds, speeches, and all other forms of written communications; pitching and fielding a high volume of national and Chicago-based press requests; leading a strategic media relations effort; and managing all social media channels and website content. The ideal candidate is hardworking, collaborative, creative, and resourceful.

This is not an entry level position. 2-5 years of communications experience, excellent writing and relationship-building skills, as well as previous on the record experience are required. Fluency in Spanish and ties to Chicago are a plus.
