Job Description

The American Academy of Pediatrics, the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, seeks a Coordinator, Federal Advocacy in our Washington, DC office. Reporting to the Office Manager, this position will provide administrative support for legislative activities, including coordinating meeting logistics and travel arrangements, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and preparing various correspondence. 


Seeking an individual with at least one year general related administrative or office support experience, including drafting correspondence and meeting planning, must have a high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in communication, political science, or related field is preferred), and


excellent organizational, interpersonal, diplomacy, and verbal/written communication skills required. Candidates must be able to manage multiple priorities, pay close attention to detail, work independently and as a team, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Strong technical acumen required with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with advocacy software (eg, Congress Plus), virtual meeting platforms (eg, Webex, Teams, Zoom), email marketing software (eg, MailChimp, Magnet Mail), collaboration site software eg, SharePoint), and Adobe Acrobat strongly preferred. Some overtime may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holiday closures.
