Reclaim is an abortion forward, non-profit organization working as the public education expert and advocate for reproductive rights in the state of Michigan. Reclaim is home to the only abortion fund in Southeast Michigan, including Detroit, and we are one of only two operating abortion funds in Michigan. Our mission is to fuel individuals and communities to RECLAIM their dignity around, confidence in, and support of abortion and reproductive rights. Reclaim engages in advocacy and public education to provide accurate and thoughtful information on reproductive health in culture and society.
We currently have an opening for a Part Time Development & Outreach Coordinator. The Development & Outreach Coordinator will participate in all aspects of the organization’s administration, membership development, fundraising, education, outreach, and PR work. The qualified candidate has a strong work ethic, enjoys interacting with the public and would like an opportunity to gain broad experience in a small but high-quality organization. The Development & Outreach Coordinator will report to the President of the Board and work with a 6-member Board of Directors. This person will be expected to adapt to the challenges and opportunities that arise within a growing organization.

Your general duties will include: leading the execution, analysis, planning, control and evaluation of fundraising and event efforts; building strategic relationships within the community; building and maintaining relationships with allied community organizations; social media and communications with the public about the state of abortion in Michigan; conducting a variety of outreach activities; and communicating with the Board of Directors and leading Board Meetings with the Board President.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Fundraising
- Creates a diversified annual fundraising plan that is in alignment with Reclaim’s strategic plan with the Executive Director
- Conducts activities related to establishing and managing annual giving campaigns, event planning, and fundraising activities
- Supports and grows special events and third-party opportunities
- Develops and directs a program for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors, businesses, and foundations
- Maintains DonorAdvance software to track donors, email outreach list (supporters), and fundraising
- Generates regular emails (Mailchimp or other) and mailings to our supporters and donors
- Researches, writes, and administers grants with assistance from Board President and Members
- Accounting duties such as statement review, writing fund checks, creating and updating budgets
- Create content for all social media accounts that will attract visitors and ultimately supporters and donors
Outreach
- Creates an annual outreach/program plan with assistance from Board Member assigned to programming
- Assists and facilitates in advocacy and programming events
- Develops plan with the President and the Board to recruit, train, and utilize volunteers
- Attends relevant community meetings; participate in relevant councils and committees
- Schedules outreach presentations in the community and for supporting organizations as needed
- Develops outreach materials and packets
- Maintains relationships with collaborative partners and cultivate new ones
- Assists in the coordination of special events including holiday baskets/gifts; donor/partner/volunteer appreciation activities
- Develop and coordinate PR and press
- Creating original content and reposting relevant news on all social media channels
- Continue conversations with those seeking financial assistance through the MI WIN Fund
Office Duties
- Orders and purchases office and other supplies as needed
- Keeps software up to date
- Execute various administrative duties such as generating reports, recording program attendance and sales, miscellaneous organizational record keeping, filing, copying, sorting, mailing, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree with preferred 1+ years of experience with fundraising and coordinating outreach efforts in a non-profit environment
- Able to work independently and take responsibility for task execution
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Proficient in Google docs
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to attend evening and weekend events as needed
- Excellent written and presentation communication skills
- High level attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Outgoing and engaging personality with confidence to interact face to face with individual and corporate donors
- Experience preparing reports for funding sources
- Knowledge and experience with social media platforms and websites
- Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports on development and outreach activities, to track progress and address program deficiencies as they occur
- Take initiative, think creatively, offer new ideas, and push us to become a more effective organization
- Preferred Skill: Experience researching and writing grants and budgets
This position is for an independent contractor $18.50/hour to start with opportunity to increase; 3 days/24 hours a week.
