Job Description
The United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 3000 is seeking an experienced Union Contract Negotiator responsible for developing and executing contract campaigns.
Position requires willingness to work long and irregular hours, strong listening, written and oral communication skills. Basic computer literacy required, advance skills a plus. Demonstrated success in contract campaigns and membership involvement at the bargaining table required. Experience in Health care bargaining a plus.
Work Location: Can be based out of any UFCW 3000 office and may be required to travel/ work in WA, Northeast OR, and Northern ID
Requirements Include:
- Demonstrated ability to Negotiate strong collective bargaining agreements
- Identify, develop and build relationships with a diverse group of bargaining team members
- Work effectively with a team while managing multiple priorities and take on projects outside of contract negotiations including attending events or assisting on campaigns
- Develop and coordinate contract campaigns in collaboration with all depts. including but not limited to Organizing, Political, Community, and Grievance
- Work with leadership to implement strategic bargaining goals to continually improve contracts
- Develop and present creative collective bargaining proposals utilizing a racial and gender equity lens
- Assist in training members and staff on issues and processes related to collective bargaining and contract administration
- Experience in both Public and Private sector preferred
- Coordinate bargaining campaigns to include public awareness and participation
- Work with Union representatives and stewards to triage and process grievances
- May handle mediations, arbitrations, and unfair labor practices
- May be required to participate in public policy activity such as legislative and political work
- Mentor junior staff in leadership identification and development skills and strategies
- Other duties as assigned
