Children’s Advocacy Centers of Virginia (CACVA) is seeking an accomplished leader to serve as its Executive Director. This is a pivotal role in advancing our mission to provide leadership, training, and technical assistance to child advocacy centers and multidisciplinary teams throughout Virginia. The Executive Director will drive organizational strategy, oversee daily operations, and serve as a champion for child protection and advocacy on local, state, and national levels. This executive position offers a unique opportunity to lead a highly respected nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the critical issue of child abuse while fostering a collaborative environment among stakeholders and partner agencies.
Summary: Responsible for directing and implementing the overall mission and policies of the Children's Advocacy Centers of Virginia, a non-profit organization and accredited state chapter of the National Children's Alliance, that provides leadership, training, and technical assistance to existing and emerging child advocacy centers, and multidisciplinary teams throughout Virginia. Responsible for: the daily operations of the organization, developing and maintaining a strong funding base, increasing public and private awareness of the organization, developing and maintaining relationships with partner agencies, and representing the organizations on local, state, and national levels by performing the following duties.
Essential Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned).
1. Manages daily activities of the organization including the supervision of staff and oversight of all programs.
2. Prepares for and maintains Children’s Advocacy Centers of Virginia (CACVA) chapter accreditation.
3. Assists and supports Virginia’s communities in the development of a child advocacy center and to accredited members in establishing satellite centers.
4. Research, obtain, and maintain a stable and diversified funding base.
5. Completes grant applications and funding reports, monitors services, and expenditures related to CACVA’s federal, state, and private funding.
6. Develops and maintains oversight of the budget and monthly financials in conjunction with the Board Treasurer.
7. Works closely with the CACVA Board to develop strategic initiatives and facilitates the work of the Board.
8. Provides technical assistance and serves as a mentor to those applying for associate or accredited National Children's Alliance membership status.
9. Responds to member requests/communications in a timely manner.
10. Notifies, plans, and executes CACVA’s Board meetings in collaboration with the Board Chair.
11. Oversee the planning and implementation of the annual training and educational opportunities for CACs, MDT, and other partner agency professionals.
12. Facilitates communication among Children's Advocacy Centers to share and gather information relevant to members including the planning of CAC membership meetings.
13. Facilitates special projects undertaken by Children’s Advocacy Centers of Virginia.
14. Attend and represent CACVA at national, regional, and statewide meetings.
15. Build and maintain relationships with key national, state, and local stakeholders.
16. Develops and provides oversight for Children's Advocacy Centers of Virginia communications and marketing activities, including the website.
17. Works with the Board to develop and implement the Chapter’s priorities and legislative agenda impacting children's advocacy centers.
18. Acts as a media contact person for Children's Advocacy Centers of Virginia.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in human services, criminal justice, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience: Experience in nonprofit management is required, including 3-5 years in a leadership role within a Children's Advocacy Center or closely adjacent field/sector, grant writing, fund development, and supervisory responsibilities. Service as a Board Member of a Children's Advocacy Center may be considered.
Qualifications:
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills and track record; ability to self-direct
- Ability to skillfully address complex challenges while sustaining a collaborative atmosphere
- Track record of strong ability to negotiate partnerships and maintain favorable working relationships among diverse institutions and individuals
- Knowledge of fiscal management and oversight of a non-profit agency
- Knowledge and experience in developing and submitting private, state, and federal grants
- Familiarity with funding sources, business, and philanthropic communities
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
Work/Travel:
- Requires ability to work from a home office
- Travel within the Commonwealth of Virginia to provide training and technical assistance to CACs/MDTs
- Minimal (averaging twice annually) out-of-state travel is required to attend training and conferences

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
