The Political Programs Manager will join Amazon’s Political Programs team focused on developing and executing high-visibility activities with policymakers and key stakeholders. The Manager will propose, prepare for, and execute recurring programs that allow the Public Policy team to host government officials, community organizations, or equivalent participants at Amazon facilities. This role requires an ability to identify opportunities that align business priorities with public policy goals and implement the relevant engagements by developing strategic content, overseeing logistics, and preparing materials, such as briefing documents and talking points.


The position requires a proven self-starter who can drive team objectives by anticipating needs, thinking critically and creatively, and working collaboratively. To cultivate effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, the Manager will influence others with strong interpersonal skills, judgement, and political acumen. An ideal candidate has an understanding of government relations, external advocacy, and communications tactics. A high level of discretion and professionalism is important.


This position will be based in Arlington, VA. An ability and desire to travel is required.

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • 5+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • 5+ years of professional experience in strategizing, planning, executing policy-related events with government officials and agencies, community organizations, companies, trade associations, or equivalent organizations

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Experience identifying and resolving complex issues
  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact with senior professionals, including policymakers and senior executives
