Job Description
Senator Ed Markey seeks two Regional Directors for his Boston office to oversee regional outreach for the greater Boston region and South Shore/South Coast. These individuals will act as the Senator's liaison to government, community and constituent groups and civic leaders in their regions; identify and attend meetings and events throughout the region on the Senator’s behalf (some of which will occur at night and on weekends); build and maintain strong relationships with local elected officials and community members; facilitate requests made of the Senator and/or the office by elected officials; proactively meet with local individuals and groups to build strong relationships in their communities; plan, advance, and execute events for the Senator in the region; assist with case work; as well as other duties assigned. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communications skills, a demonstrated capability to work creatively and generate new ideas and the ability to manage a team in furtherance of organizational goals. Qualified applicants will have several years of substantive experience in government and/or community outreach, solid ties to Massachusetts and a strong knowledge of local issues, geography and demographics.
