Department Overview:
As the top of mind, reliable resources to the neuromuscular disease community, the Healthcare Services department plays a critical role in providing support, opportunities, and resources to promote access to care and empower each individual. The Healthcare Services department is comprised of the Care Center Network, Family & Clinical Support, Medical Education Operations, and Resource Center teams.
Position Description:
The Medical Education Specialist helps to develop and implement our educational programming for clinical audiences. These programs include educational webinars, workshops, insight-gathering focus groups with clinicians, downloadable resources, virtual discussion forums, communications to the MDA clinical network, and more. The purpose of the Medical Education team is to support ongoing education and facilitate engagement among clinicians who provide care for individuals with neuromuscular diseases.
This position assists with multiple projects, working with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure programs deliver on planned objectives. This role requires excellent organization skills and attention-to-detail, as well as the ability to handle multiple projects at one time. Working with the broader Medical Education team, the Medical Education Specialist will help implement data-obsessed strategies that support educational programming and the needs of the clinical community.
What You’ll do:
- Assist with implementation and execution of medical education programming, which includes live and virtual events and resources for clinicians to support multidisciplinary care in neuromuscular disease.
- Identify and liaise directly with subject-matter experts to produce program content that meets the objectives of the program.
- Implement and execute projects in a timely and efficient way.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to promote programs, submitting requests in a timely manner to the Marketing and Communications Teams.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders, at the direction of the Medical Education leadership, to inform them of upcoming programs.
- Assist with record-keeping of program campaigns in Salesforce including participants, presenters, and collateral materials.
- Distribute, collect, and analyze post-program surveys to measure the impact of each program.
- Assist in tracking spending for programs and keeping costs within budget.
- Assist with tracking and processes related to continuing education credits for Medical Education programs and MDA annual conference, as needed.

- Assist the Medical Education team as needed to identify new outlets for clinician engagement, by researching potential partnership opportunities (eg, educational institutions, CME-accrediting agencies, advocacy organizations, etc).
- Acquire thorough knowledge of the neuromuscular disease landscape and MDA’s Mission so that challenges and opportunities may be anticipated.
- Represent MDA’s mission, values, and brands by utilizing correct brand messaging in print, web, and verbal communications.
- Proactively identify challenges and offer solutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary Range:
- This position's salary range is $53,000 - $57,000. Final offer amounts and levels are established by multiple factors, including your experience, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in the sciences and/or communications preferred.
- Experience in a role that works with both external and internal stakeholders.
- Strong and demonstrable project management skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
- Basic understanding the pharma/biotech industry and medical education preferred.
- Ability to communicate in a consistent, proactive, and inclusive manner.
- Attention to detail.
- Must be able to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced organization.
- Advanced level Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access, SharePoint, design programs, and customer relationship management software.
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of Salesforce.
- Data-obsessed thinker with excellent analytical skills and ability to identify and respond to issues/opportunities in a timely manner.
- Ability to work nights/weekends and travel as necessary. Overnight travel may be required.
