The Association of State Democratic Committees’ (ASDC) mission is to help build strong state parties in order to elect Democrats from the State House to the White House. To accomplish this goal, the ASDC focuses exclusively on the current and future needs of State Democratic Parties. It acts as a service organization dedicated to supporting and educating its members, State Party executive directors and staff.


The ASDC Regional Director represents state party interests at the DNC as well as with the other national campaign committees: Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Democratic Governors’ Association, and the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. The ASDC Regional Directors serve as the regional staffers for the Association of State Democratic Committees. These positions report to the ASDC Executive Director. Responsibilities include implementing and administering the State Party Partnership (SPP) program and State Party Innovation Fund (SPIF) Grant program, coordinating state party surrogate requests, and training Democratic State Parties as part of the ASDC/DNC Training Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serving as point of contact for Democratic State Party leaders and staff
  • Liaising with DNC Departments to strengthen the infrastructure of Eastern state parties
  • Convening Regional calls on a regular basis with all State Parties within the region to provide best practices any relevant updates
  • Creating and managing ASDC-led State Party services and programs as suitable to the unique needs of the ASDC membership
  • Working closely with all DNC departments to facilitate State Party needs, and briefing departments on State Party needs and operations
  • Working with the ASDC Executive Director to administer the SPP program, including conducting regular State Party check-ins and tracking progress to goal on key deliverables
  • Working closely with State Parties, the ASDC Regionals, and the DNC Leadership office to identify and provide surrogates for State Party events
  • In general, collaborate with relevant DNC departments in the planning and development process on all national programs involving or relying upon State Parties
  • Leading all communication to State Parties, including state check-ins, requests for support, post election de-briefs, travel notifications, and notifications on program and partnership opportunities
  • Attending all State Party-related meetings, briefings, planning sessions, etc.
  • Traveling to states to provide needed and/or requested support to State Parties in the East
  • Helping with the DNC/ASDC Training Program (Best Practices Institute), including advising on training priorities and curriculum development
  • Working with ASDC Executive Director to plan and execute all ASDC quarterly meetings
  • Work with state party leaders to review plans and build permanent political infrastructure
  • Other work as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a state or local party organization or other relevant professional experience; campaign experience is also preferred
  • Excellent personal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Be able to simultaneously manage multiple deadlines and responsibilities
  • Must possess excellent oral/written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail

Salary: The starting salary for the ASDC Regional Director position is XXX, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for overtime wages.

Due to COVID-19, this position has been remote. Normally, this is a full-time employment position based in Washington, DC, though travel will be extensive. Salary is negotiated based on qualifications and experience.
