Position Summary
The JetBlue Emerging Talent (JET) internship program provides skill & professional development through participation in the developing real-world business solutions that support the delivery of strategic business initiatives. Throughout the program, interns participate in a robust programming including professional development activities, cross-functional projects, senior leader exposure, networking, and community service. The JET Program provides interns the opportunity to immerse themselves into the aviation industry while developing specific career interest or areas of study.
The Sustainability and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) team is responsible for creating and executing JetBlue’s strategy and programs related to natural resource consumption and disposal.
The Sustainability Intern will help with researching and executing opportunities to save both operational cost and reduce environmental impact. The Intern is responsible for supporting Sustainability programs and other departments within JetBlue needing support with natural resource conservation, and/or disposal and recycling.
Essential Responsibilities
Develop materials to support current and future programs (i.e. procedures, communications, workflows, presentations, etc.)
Support and audit operations for compliance with sustainability programs
Work on research and organization regarding international regulations, processes and standards
Assist with research, data analysis, development and execution of departmental programs
Act as day-to-day support on team’s initiatives
Respond to ad-hoc requests for internal and/or external customers to ensure alignment of programs and initiatives
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Results-oriented, forward-thinking, confident undergraduate and graduate students
Available for employment June-August
Available for regular overnight travel (10% - 50%)
Able to work flexible hours and be available on short notice
Position is based in Long Island City, NY. JetBlue encourages all eligible students to apply; however, JetBlue will not provide relocation costs
Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Received or pursuing a program in aviation or sustainability
Previous aviation experience
Operational experience managing complex systems
Extremely strong writing and copy-editing skills
Extremely strong research ability
Extremely detail oriented for editing and organizational purposes
Crewmember Expectations:
Regular attendance and punctuality
Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
