Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversees communications involving the Louisville Metro Council Democratic Caucus
Develops and implements a communications strategy and a broad and diverse range of department and councilmember communications utilizing a variety of platforms
Examples of Duties
Manages all social media strategies, including creating, editing, and posting to multiple social media channels
Engages with social audiences through appropriate channels
Shoots and edits photos and videos of events
Utilizes data effectively to formulate digital content strategies across all online platforms
Analyzes campaign performance and translates data into recommendations for social media, content marketing, search engine optimizing, and social advertising campaigns
Contributes to and executes social media marketing plans
Keeps apprised of national, state and local politics, community, and government events and issues
Develops, implements, and maintains content, content strategy and navigational structure for the Democratic Caucus, the Caucus as an entity, and leadership utilizing various websites and digital platforms
Utilizes analytics to offer recommendations regarding ways to improve sites' content and layout and assists with website and platform updating and/or content
Maintains an engaging and consistent voice that aligns with the system's and leadership's brands
Utilizes set graphic standards to generate content, including video
Provides communications, marketing, and public relations support for the Democratic Leadership and Caucus initiatives
Monitors news, political, government and community issues, and trends and current affairs to keep audiences informed and ensures conversation accuracy and consistent messaging

Bachelor's degree
Communications
Journalism

Media Studies
Political Science
Public Relations
Related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Five years of experience in media, public relations, or communications, including five years concentration in local, state, or federal legislative communications
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must work a varied schedule
Must provide one's own source of transportation

Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
